Little for A Short Time

I have been overwhelmed the last two weeks with the thought of my blue-eyed baby going to Kindergarten next year. The memories have been racing in my mind, tears-flowing down my face and a suttle restlessness about the whole event. Maybe its because we are in a state of transition - even though we don't know what the transition is going to look like- or maybe- just maybe - it has opened the flood gates in my mind realizing that your children really are- only little for a short time.

Just glancing back at her in the carseat has been an awakening as her long legs dangle below the seat and as she plays with her hair and sings along "Blessed be the name of the Lord..." I remember being overwhelmed and heartbroken at the thought of leaving the tiny baby in the backseat all by herself as we would travel.

I mean I am a stay-at-home mom - this is what I "stay at home" for is my children - so the idea of them being gone all day and me being at home alone is a little weird. But wait- think of all the things I could get done! Ha!

Coley and I really praying that God will lead us in how we should school our children whether it be at home, private or public. It is a huge decision and one that I have felt an increasing burden to pray about.

Off to contemplate more! Nap time is over and the girls are up! Time to make chocolate chip cookies.

Beach Vacation '08

Nothing like a little fun in the sun! We visited the coast with our good friends JD, Melinda and Allie last week. We spent lots of time at the beach and pool. Its always amazing to see Landri suck her thumb even though it is completely covered with sand and Paige run with sweet abandon into the ocean. On our last day at the beach Paige pointed out about 25 yards and said that she saw a "shark". Me being the mommy replied that there are no sharks this close in - when Coley interupted me yelled "look at the dolphins!" God placed two very playful dolphins right in the lagoon with us - it was such a blessing to see them and the girls were thrilled!

We had a great time - however after we spent two really hot nights in our condo we realized the AC wasn't working and they had to move us. Paige ate crab for the first time at The Boiling Pot.

Coley and I did come to the conclusion that traveling with kiddos can't really be considered a "restful" vacation...even though it is fun.

Redneck Bath

An excited Paige ran into my bedroom this morning and was eager to share that "Daddy" gave her and Landri the "biggest white trash bath in the backyard last night!" Oh yes he did! Coley explained that they had finished swimming and in order to save some time he just decided to wash them down in the backyard with soap and all. Landri even commented that she "got a bath in the backyard." Only my husband!

Welcome! My first blog entry...

Since we have no family within 4 hours of us here - it only seems right to keep everyone up to date with this blog. I hope you enjoy reading it. I am looking forward to sharing with you our journey into the realms of parenting two girls.

We made it! Yes! The girls made it through all of the wedding prep and didn't even get one stain on their flower girl dresses UNTIL the reception. We couldn't keep Landri away from the choc. covered strawberries. They did awesome and the wedding was beautiful. I still can't believe that my brother is married. It is sooo weird. We love Jessica and are looking forward to what God has in store for their marriage.
