Coley and were able to swing a date night tonight (thank you Madelyn!) and decided it was time to do something local - which doesn't leave many options in our little barbecue town.
We decided to check out the local community theater as they were having their last production of a melodrama "Peril on the High Seas". We indulged and got the dinner and movie package ($18 each- who can eat and go to local live theater for that??? Cheap!). We ate none other - than at a local barbecue place - and walked the square. That was neat - we got to walk off some dinner before sitting for 2 1/2 hours. Plus, we saw some new business that we haven't gotten to check out. Then went to the theater which is situated just off the square. It is a very old theater and had this most vintage - but really exciting - feel. Coley had the look of dread on his face and even commented "theater people are a little different you know"...
So the play was a melodrama. I had no clue what that meant, but we learned quickly - that it is a funny, interactive production that allows the audience to comment out loud at the actors, throw popcorn on stage, laugh loudly, boo, hiss, etc. Totally fun and hilarious!
Coley totally enjoyed it! He even said on the way home that it was one of the best date nights we have had in a long time. So I guess it doesn't hurt to try something new, local and cheap once in while....there is more to date night than dinner and commuting!

Oh! That sounds like so much fun. Remember when we went to a Dinner Theatre @ ASU! It was great... I need to check into that again. I am so glad you had a fun time.
